The North Carolina-Taiwan Professional and Scholar Society (NCTPASS) was officially established in December 2019 in the North Carolina Research Triangle Park.
2.1 The association is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious tax-exempt organization approved by the IRS.
2.2 To establish an academic exchange platform for professionals with Taiwan-related connections.
2.3 To enhance interaction among industry and academia scholars from Taiwan in North Carolina and broaden their professional knowledge and perspectives.
2.4 To provide career guidance and advice to international students, postdoctoral researchers, newly appointed assistant professors, and visiting scholars from Taiwan.
3.1 Regular Members: Professionals or scholars with connections to Taiwan (e.g., from a Taiwanese family) who have completed the degree or training.
3.2 Training Members: Students or postdoctoral researchers from Taiwan.
3.3 Annual Membership Fees: Regular Membership: $10 USD (valid from January 1st to December 31st)
3.4 Training Membership: Free
4.1 The association has a president, vice president, board of directors, treasurer, annual meeting committee, outreach committee, communications committee, statistical advisor, and members. Committees of NCT-PASS are responsible for leading these functions. Members are encouraged to register for committee positions during their annual membership renewal period. This provides members with excellent opportunities to accumulate leadership experience and participate in community service.
4.2 The number of directors can be determined based on the size of the association (minimum five people). Directors are elected by members by the end of year. Members unable to attend can vote by email. Directors serve three-year terms and can be re-elected once.
4.3 One president, elected by the board of directors, serves a three-year term and is eligible for re-election once.
4.4 One vice president, recommended by the president and approved by the Board of Directors, serves a three-year term and is eligible for re-election once. The Vice President's responsibilities include chairing meetings in the President’s absence and providing necessary assistance.
4.5 Annual Meeting Committee is responsible for planning and organizing the NCTPASS Annual Meeting, collaborating with other committees, and handling all logistical support for the meeting activities.
4.6 Outreach Committee aims to establish outreach programs (seminars, workshops, mentorship, etc.) to provide career guidance, mentorship, and resources to training members (students, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scholars) of Taiwanese student associations at Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, and other institutions.
4.7 Communications Committee is responsible for enhancing the organization's visibility through managing social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter), the website, and communication with other similar organizations in the United States.
4.8 The Treasurer is elected by the Board of Directors for a three-year term and may be re-elected once. The Treasurer is responsible for reporting on the financial situation and collecting membership fees at meetings.
4.9 The association holds two to three events annually. The Board of Directors may have monthly or quarterly meetings. The Board of Directors may convene an extraordinary meeting if needed.
Note: This charter shall come into effect upon its adoption and amendment.
